William Samoei Ruto was born on 21st December 1966 in Sambut village, Kamagut, Uasin Gishu County. The DP was born to Daniel Cheruiyot and Sarah Cheruiyot. Therefore, William Ruto is 54 years old.

Ruto got married in 1991 to Rachel Chebt Ruto. After marriage, the couple went ahead to live in Dagoretti South where they got their first child, Nick Ruto. Currently, the two have a total of 6 children; Nick Ruto, Charlene Ruto, June Ruto, Stephanie Jepchumba, George Ruto, and Nadia Cherop Ruto.
