The famous Ocampo six is a list of high-profile figures accused of crimes against humanity. The six were accused by the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Luis Moreno-Ocampo, in The Hague. Therefore, the name ‘Ocampo Six’ was coined from the name of the prosecutor at the ICC. The six were accused of crime against humanity during the 2007/2008 general election that was highly contested. After the election, Raila Odinga disputed the results which led Post Election Violence. Here is a list of the famous Ocampo Six.

1. Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta
Before the case, Uhuru was the minister of finance in Kibaki’s government. However, after the highly contested election of 2007/2008, he was appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister working under Raila Odinga. The shocking bit is that despite being among the Ocampo six, Uhuru was elected Kenya’s President in 2013. He was re-elected President in 2017.
Uhuru’s case was terminated on 13th March 2015. This was after the Trial Chamber V(B) of the International Criminal Court issued its decision on the withdrawal of charges in the case.

2. William Kipchirchir Samoei Arap Ruto
William Kipchirchir Samoei Arap Ruto was then the Minister of Agriculture having served in other governmental positions before. Despite being among the Ocampo six, Ruto was elected alongside Uhuru Kenyatta, as Kenya’s first Deputy President.
Ruto’s case was terminated on 5th April 2016.
3. Henry Kosgey
Henry Kosgey was a former industrialization Minister in Kenya’s government. He was also accused along Uhuru, Ruto, and the others.

4. Francis Kirimi Muthaura
Muthaura was a secretary to the cabinet. He was also among the list of Ocampo six.
5. Mohammed Hussein Ali
Ali was the then police chief in Kenya.
6. Joshua Arap Sang
Sang was a radio executive at that time.
This is the complete list of the Ocampo six. There were various reasons for which they were accused of crimes against humanity. The charges for these people were three crimes against humanity: murder, deportation or forcible transfer of population, and persecution, allegedly committed during the 2007-2008 post-election violence in Kenya.
